PURCHASING ARTWORK

Q. How does purchasing work?

A. For each original that is for sale, there is a "Buy this painting" button, which will take you to a secure PayPal site, where you can complete your transaction.

Q. I don't have a Paypal account, and I want to pay with credit card. How can I make a purchase?

A. Once on the Paypal website, you can click on the "I don't have a Paypal account" option, in which case you can pay with your credit card.

Q. Can I pay with check?

A. Yes. In that case, please send me an email with your intention to buy the painting, and please don't complete the transaction online (i.e. Please don't click on the "Buy this painting" button if you want to pay with check).

Q. What are shipping charges?

A. Shipping costs will be $30 for smaller paintings and $50 for larger paiintings within the US and Canada. This cost will be added to the price during check-out.

Q. I am an international customer and I cannot complete the transaction online.

A. Customers outside the US or Canada, please send me an email at IstanbulGallery@gmail.com, so we can work out the details of transaction and shipping.

Q. Can you give an estimate of international shipping rates?
A. Shipping costs for an average size painting to Europe will cost around $150, to East Asia and Australia $250 (via Fedex). If you wish, I could unwrap the painting from the frame and ship it to you in a tube. This will be cheaper, however, you will need to get it restretched in a local gallery.

Q. Who am I buying the paintings from?
A. You are buying all artwork, originals and reproductions, directly from the artist.

REPRODUCTIONS, MULTIPLE PURCHASES, COMMISSIONS

Q. I liked one of the paintings that is already sold, and it looks like there is no reproduction. What can I do?
A. Some of the images that are sold can still be reproduced. Please email me to ask about an individual piece. Unfortunately, Crowded City, which is another popular painting, does not have reproductions. Sometimes, I paint another original that looks like the sold painting. But please keep in mind that if I repaint a concept, the new painting will not look exactly as the one you have asked. Every original piece is different.

Q. Multiples:

A. If you want to buy multiple copies of a reproduction, or simply two or three originals, please send me an email. Two paintings shipping in one package will save shipping costs (Shipping two paintings costs almost as low as shipping only one).

Q. Can you paint something specific to my taste?
A. As with most commissions, you'd have more say on the "narrative" (let say you want two people having dinner), on the size of the painting, and somewhat on the palette, but the end result will reflect my style, and will resemble the other paintings in Istanbul Gallery.

DISPLAY & PRESERVATION

Q. I have already bought a Gizem Saka painting. What is the best way to preserve paintings?
A. Even though I use the best material while painting, there are precautions you may take to elongate the life of the piece: Please do not place the painting under direct sunlight or directly over a heat source (such as a radiator or a fireplace). Please do not display the painting in smokey environments. If you need to put the painting in storage, choose a dry, cool and dark place. Please do not put varnish on paintings in order to preserve them.

Q. Do the paintings need framing?
A. Most of my paintings are painted on the corners, and canvas is wrapped all the way to the back of the stretcher bars, in a technique called "gallery wrap". Therefore most paintings do not need to be framed.

Q. I am a painter. How can I submit my work to Istanbul Gallery?
A. Unfortunately, Istanbul Gallery is my personal website where I don't display other artists' work.
